Clarinettist with E flat and bass clarinet for
Ensemble Storstrøm/Danish Chamber Players

The Danish Chamber Players invites applications for the position of clarinet:
Selected candidates will be invited to audition on August 28th and 29th, 2023

Application deadline: June 11th, 2023

The audition will be held in one round and the candidates are required to present the following works:

Solo (with piano accompaniment):

● Johannes Brahms: Clarinet sonata E-flat major, op. 120. nr. 2, 1. movement

Chamber music (played with members of the ensemble):

● Ludwig van Beethoven: Clarinet trio B-flat major op. 11, 1. movement
● Charles Koechlin: Trio for flute, clarinet and bassoon, op. 92, 1. & 3. movements

Chamber music (played with all members of the ensemble):

● Martin Stauning: Îles en mer d’argent (includes bass clarinet), bar 1-86
● Claude Debussy, arr. Niels Rosing-Schow: Arabesque no. 1

Interview:

● After the playing, there will be an interview between the candidate and all the musicians of the
ensemble.

You will get a link for download of parts and scores for the chamber music works after submitting the
application form.

The Danish Chamber Players will provide a pianist on the day of the audition, but all traveling and board and
lodging expenses are the responsibility of the applicants themselves.
Applicants who are invited to audition will be charged a deposit of 135 €, which will be refunded when
auditioning.

Salary and terms of employment follow the agreements for solo positions between the regional orchestras
and the Danish musician’s union. The annual salary is calculated based on documented professional
experience and is between EUR 58.100 – EUR 75.500 annually. Further to the salary is a 14,25% pension
contribution, and an extensive public health care system.

Candidates who are not EU citizens are asked to keep themselves informed as to the current rules and
regulations concerning work permits in Denmark.

The probation period is one year.

The Danish Chamber Players consists of 8 classical musicians in a unique constellation of instruments: flute,
clarinet, bassoon, harp, piano, violin, viola and cello. The ensemble plays chamber music at the highest
artistic level and delivers extraordinary music experiences for a diverse audience of all ages at around
90-100 concerts a year, recordings etc.
