We can now kick off this year's concert program, and we're ready for a full program of musical star moments in 2022.
There is a focus on nature and the composer Carl Nielsen's marriage in the ensemble's program for 2022, which also offers a French spring festival, Halloween concerts and a new opera for children about Charles Darwin and much more.
The New Year lasts until February, at least with us at Danish Chamber Players. We chose to postpone our New Year's concerts due to the corona closure at the beginning of the year. But now it's happening: The concerts take place between 30 January and 6 February with the beautiful Swedish soprano Amelia Jakobsson accompanied by Jens Andersen as a conference.
Thus, we embark on an eventful year with concerts, festivals and experiences for children.
The year offers, among other things, a musical story about the artist Anne Marie Carl Nielsen, who was married to the composer Carl Nielsen. Together with actress Lotte Andersen, the ensemble has created the theater concert "Songs from a Marriage". Through Anne Marie and Carl Nielsen's correspondence, Lotte Andersen, Danish Chamber Players and singers Signe Asmussen and Joachim Knopp bring their stormy cohabitation to life.
- It is a modern story about the artist Anne Marie Carl Nielsen's dilemma as both wife and independent artist, about marriage and who should have a place.
French spring festival
A musical postcard from France comes this spring when the ensemble holds its spring festival on March 18-20.
- Our annual festivals are the Danish Chamber Players' flagships, where we present the music and the composers that the musicians in the ensemble are passionate about. This year we celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of the Belgian-French composer Cesar Franck with some of his famous organ works, sonatas and songs.
This year, the spring festival takes place in Lolland Municipality, and it also offers music in a different setting for children, adults and the whole family. As something very special, there is a premiere at two so-called pocket concerts by the composer Poul Ruders and Andrea Tarrodi. It is a completely new concert format that we have developed with the violinist Niklas Walentin, which is born of the challenges of the corona era with large assemblies and formats.
Music even for the kids
This year we can present the first concerts with the new musical community "Understrømmen”For children and young people. It is a collaboration with all six music schools in Kulturregion Sjælland and the ensemble. The concerts take place in the month of May, where the children play together with the ensemble's musicians, their music school teachers and the actor Jens Andersen, who performs in the role of the composer Ludwig van Beethoven.
And then, for December, the ensemble premieres a new children's opera for children in fourth grade about Charles Darwin. It's about worms!
Now we open the doors and welcome the music and the audience inside!
