New Year's concert 2023 with the Danish Chamber Players and soprano Yana Kleyn and tenor Petter Moen
The Danish Chamber Players' popular New Year's concerts are just around the corner, and this year, tradition is set in motion with great musical emotions and bubbling and festive virtuosity from both the soloists and the ensemble's musicians.
Yana Kleyn is a Danish-Russian singer who in 2022 was named opera talent of the year by the Copenhagen Opera Festival for her voice that "draws you directly into her soul". She is educated at the Southern Danish Conservatory of Music and has sung on many of the major international and Danish stages in recent years. With her on stage, she has a young Norwegian, who was also educated in Denmark, and who this season can be heard in several roles at Det Kgl. Theater. He is currently one of the smugglers in Bizet's Carmen.
This year, the music for the New Year's concerts comes out in all the nooks and crannies of love, from the deadly seriousness of the young couple Romeo and Juliet to celebration and ballads in the second half of the concert with Strauss waltzes and well-known songs by Lehar. The ensemble's clarinettist Frederik von Würden appears as a soloist in Debussy's beautiful "Premiere Rhapsodie", and thus plans have been made for an exuberant party concert with the two opera stars, who lead us through a series of well-known opera arias. It is all introduced by the ensemble's pianist, Jakob Westh.
The ensemble has tonight samples with the soloists and tomorrow Thursday etc. 11 – 14.
